Let's Talk About It! Book Discussion
Play Ball: The American Sport Meets the American Dream, book discussion series, third Thursdays, 6:30-8:00 pm, limited books, pre-registration required
Bart Giamatti, former Commissioner of Baseball, once called America’s sense of baseball “an enduring public trust”—and the richness, breadth, and depth of literature written about the sport reflect just that. Through the territory of the diamond on which the human dramas in this series are played, a great deal is accomplished in showing us how to live our lives authentically.
Books in the Series:
Miko Kings: An Indian Baseball Story by LeAnne Howe July 18
Shoeless Joe by W. P. Kinsella August 15
The Boys of Summer by Roger Kahn September 19
Bang the Drum Slowly by Mark Harris October 17
Wait Til Next Year by Doris Kearns Goodwin November 21

A variety of engaging activities are planned for this day—both inside and outside of the museum. Check out the new exhibits, interact with Pleasant Valley school “marms,” watch a blacksmith at work, play with old-fashioned toys, do laundry the 1890s way, and so much more. This day of fun is free for families!
